Departure into fantastic new worlds

You don't have to go to Mars to see new worlds. Often the obvious is strange enough. The Musikgymnasium Linz has been going on a musical voyage of discovery in the vicinity since 2013 together with its Czech partner school, the Gymnazium a Hudebni Škola Prague. The current Erasmus project “MUSICAL SPHERES - HUMAN SOUND TRACES” is a search for traces of common roots, but also for the different approaches to music characterized by national idioms. The program, with music by Oskar Nedbal, sets the direct generation of pupils and Bohuslav Martinů, the “generation of grandchildren” of Anonín Dvořák in relation to his most famous work, the “Symphony from the New World”. Works that could hardly be more different and yet have common origins that are more than just worth discovering - as fantastic new worlds just a stone's throw away from us.
